Solar Power for Businesses in 2024

For a number of businesses, 31st March 2024 will be a day marked in their calendars as the day the last of the Government’s transitional support for businesses to counter the extreme energy costs of the last couple of years. This will be an incredibly concerning time for many businesses, who will have been benefiting from reduced business rates thanks to support packages from the Government following the Covid pandemic and could see energy bills as much as trebling for some customers.

As a business owner, trying to forecast the impact this will have on your business together with factoring into your monthly costs a significant increase in utility bills, it is a very worrying time.

However, there is a solution that can benefit businesses in a number of ways – go green!

Businesses who own/rent premises have an obvious and wasted space that can work for them and is often overlooked. That space is the roof! As a business owner, you understand how every metre counts and unused for anything other than its primary purpose, the roof provides an expanse of space to work for you in the form of solar energy.

Find out how much energy your roof space could generate.

Whilst one might be forgiven for thinking that installation would be highly impactful, causing a material disruption to the business, that could not be further from the truth. Any impact from the installation process is minimal and will not affect the day-to-day running of the business, essential to know that output will not be affected!

A business that has good green credentials can actually corner more of the market than their competitors! In an independent survey commissioned by SmartestEnergy revealed that four out of five people describe themselves as likely to choose a brand with a positive approach to environmental sustainability. Proof that a company with a conscience can increase their profitability.

Why not follow the example of retail giants Amazon who are striving to be 100% powered by renewable energy by 2025. Could you do the same?!

One of the biggest benefits of solar energy – alongside the positive impact on your sustainability – is the fact you can forecast the costs for the repay period without any worry that these costs will rise in line with market fluctuations. Rather than make monthly payments to an energy company, why not direct the same funds into paying off an investment into your solar systems. Or better yet, use our new PPA offer to install solar panels on your business for free, and simply purchase the energy generated to cover the costs – for a fraction of the costs of a traditional electricity tariff.

You can even sell any unused energy back to the grid, lowering your bills even further.

The start of 2024 is the perfect time to set the wheels in motion so you’re ready to hit the ground running for the months when we can enjoy maximum daylight.  Let us work in the poor weather so you can reap the rewards in the good weather!

It is a sad fact that energy bills are always rising, however so is the sun – so does not it make sense to harness an infinite natural resource that will save you money and add to your positive credentials as a brand!
